What would happen if you actually asked for the fabled “express written consent” to replay a game? We decided to find out, enlisting a friend to make such a request of baseball commissioner Bud Selig.
From lifehacker:
Google is good for so many things, among which is searching for all sorts of files, including MP3’s. Here’s a quick primer:
-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “Nirvana”
Just substitute the term “Nirvana” for any band or singer you might be looking for, and your search will lead you to open indexes that contain downloadable music files.
Very funny video. I can’t wait for the movie. Return of the Jew claw!

Good news for those of us with Alzheimer’s running in the family. The active ingredient in marijuana, THC, and drinking fruit/vegetable juices frequently may significantly cut the risk of developing this debilitating disease.
New research shows that the active ingredient in marijuana may prevent the progression of the disease by preserving levels of an important neurotransmitter that allows the brain to function.
Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in California found that marijuana’s active ingredient, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, can prevent the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from breaking down more effectively than commercially marketed drugs.

US researchers followed almost 2,000 people for up to 10 years – providing a powerful set of results. They found the risk was 76% lower for those who drank juice more than three times a week, compared with those who drank it less than once a week.

Researchers believe that they have found how the body protects itself against diseases like Alzheimer’s. International experts found a brain enzyme that “snips apart” tangles of a protein linked to a decline in mental abilities and brain cell death. The scientists said that, in the future, drugs could be used to enhance this natural defence mechanism.

You see the internet is a series of tubes. The poker chips need to be pushed out of those tubes. I knew this was coming, but did not expect it this quickly.
AMERICA’s $6 billion (£3.2 billion) internet gambling industry is facing meltdown after the US Senate pushed through a Bill at the weekend outlawing the processing of bets by banks and credit companies.
The passing of the Bill in the early hours of Saturday surprised the industry. Although it had successfully negotiated Congress, its passage through the Senate looked likely to be blocked through lack of parliamentary time.
However, Bill Frist, the Republican leader in the Senate, got the measure through by attaching it to an unrelated Bill that enhances port security.

Ireland’s economy has exploded over the last 15 years. Reuven Brenner explains why:
How did Ireland go from being among the poorest places in Western Europe to one of the richest? How did it attract the headquarters of 1,000 international companies? How did it come to rank, by some measures, among the EU’s top 15 original members? With per capita GDP estimated at $37,800 (U.S.), Ireland is now tops in Western Europe.
To begin, the obvious: In 1986, Ireland slashed spending in areas such as health expenditures, education, agricultural spending, roads and housing, and the military, while abolishing agencies such as the National Social Services Board, the Health Education Bureau, and regional development organizations. By 1993, government non-interest spending declined to 41 percent of GNP, down from a high of 55 percent of GNP in 1985. Subsequently, it significantly lowered corporate tax rates to 12.5 percent, at a time when the lowest corporate rates in Europe were 30 percent and U.S. rates stood at 35 percent. Since 2004, Ireland also has offered a 20 percent tax credit on research and development.
But the true miracle came when, due to these policy changes, Ireland attracted capital and pools of ambitious young people from around the globe. By now, Ireland has one of the youngest populations in the Western world.
